The goal of the blog is to hopefully connect with some of you amazing people out there and learn Japanese!
I have goals outside this blog like passing the JLPT N2, visiting all over Japan, visiting Germany, possibly living and working in Japan, releasing computer programs, .... well these goals will make a little more sense after introducing myself : )
A little bit about me
I am a happily married man currently living on the east coast of the United States. I've lived most of my life on the east coast but I did travel a bit when I was younger due to being part of a military family including Germany and various states (Washington, Kentucky, and others).
I did not stay long enough in Germany to pick up deutsch but I do remember some things like the Brot is amazing over there (especially the brötchen), spagetti eis, and kinder eier chocolates and toys.
I've completed high school and received my associate's degree in computer science. I'm pleased to say that I am working in the field on the practical side -- making non-game applications -- and enjoying it.
Why am I interested in Japan?
I've been interested in Japan since high school. This is where I started reading manga like Ranma 1/2, watching anime like Dragon Ball Z on cartoon network, getting interested in samurais and ninjas. I was even able to take a Japanese language class during my senior year! (It would have been nice if I could have taken it all 4 years).
Once I took the Japanese class, I learned more about Japan and of course the internet allowed me to learn even more. I enjoy watching and reading the experiences that folks were having over in Japan -- thank you everyone online for posting your experiences.
When I started working after college, I created an account on Lang-8. Through this site, I met my Japanese wife. Now even more devoted, I am taking up the Japanese language again.
I have visited the country once before and loved it. Looking forward to another visit in 2014.
Hobbies?
At home, I continue my fascination with computer programming by making programming projects in PHP, Javascript/NodeJS, HTML/CSS. I also dabble into other languages like Objective-C, Unity programming, and anything else that interests me. One day, I'll get these projects online.
